Who else is interested in affordable home automation ideas?

The terms “affordable” and “home automation” may seem like oxymorons at first. Two words that do not seem to go together.

While it is true that home automation costs can easily run fifty thousand dollars and up…it doesn’t have to be that way.

Allow me to explain.

It is very important to do research into the various home automation products available before selecting one. Some of the less expensive “so called” home automation systems rely on technology that seems to work one minute and then is not so reliable the next moment.

Some of the higher end products have such astronomical costs associated with them that it is not uncommon to have to pay $50,000 in programming alone. (That is not even counting the costs associated with designing your home automation system, supplying your home automation equipment or installing it for that matter.)

So there for it makes sense to choose affordable home automation equipment that will allow you to start with a modest investment and allow you to build on it a little at a time.

For example, lets say you wanted to start off with a home theater controller. Instead of investing all of your money in one of those smart universal remote controls–
For just a little bit more you could own a home automation control device, lets say like the Control4 Home Theater Controller, for example. This Controller not only communicates with your Television, Surround Sound Receiver, & Satellite Recover it can look at your DVD & search the internet for the jacket cover art & display it on your television screen.

Now instead of fumbling with 42 remote controls you now have one home automation remote that can seamlessly integrate all of you home theater equipment with one push of a button.

If you had simply purchased a smart universal remote you would be limited to operating your home theater equipment only.
But not with a home automation controller like the Control4 home theater controller. This is only the beginning.   As you can afford to invest more into your home automation system you can add equipment like keypads & touch screens through out your home. You can also add features like integrating your security system, HVAC thermostat controls, whole house music distribution, lighting control dimmers as you can afford it.

One remote control can control all of these devices and can be programmed to trigger or stage a series of events to happen with a touch of a button.
For example, before you go to sleep at night you can hit the preprogrammed command for “bedtime”. Automatically your security system will arm itself, the HVAC system will lower it settings to conserve energy, lights & electronic equipment will shut off through out your home, your bedroom lights will slowly dim over the next 15 minutes as soft relaxing music plays until you fall asleep.

Think about that for a moment, an affordable home automation product that you can add home automation control modules to as you see fit. This way your system can grow with you as you can afford to do it instead of having to settle for less features in a system or having to put off having your home automation system all together.
