Italy, a country of little known assets
February 5th, 2008 by MarcoItaly
A varied country from North to South, Italy benefits from attractions in every little town and village. With the exception of the three great cities (Milan, Rome and Naples) the rest of the population is scattered in a myriad of towns, countries and villages that constitute the true fabric of the country.
3,550 museums, 2,150 archaeological areas, 41,000 castles and mansions, 101,000 churches, 1,570 convents, 4,200 historical gardens certainly make Italy an attractive destination.
Italy is dense of quality and of possibilities that others do not have. That heritage is composed from sea, mountains, hills, plains, forests, rivers and lakes in a balanced relationship with agriculture, fisheries, tourism… The subdivided cultural heritage in local cultures (folklore, fine foods, handicraft) and national culture; let alone the ‘grand’ and ‘little’ art from the Colosseum to the last museum of province. Here all this patrimony is taken advantage of.
Italy is the fourth country in the world to be visited by tourists.
Everyone dreams of the Italian way of living and a professional tourist guide showcases the Italians’ kindness, respect, availabilities, honesty and cleanliness. From lodges to farm holidays, all the services are there. The Italian rivers, like the Arno and the Po and the Tevere are still relatively unspoilt.
The cultural regions through their local associations institute the coordination of the extra-communal assets. Every common asset is introduced by tourist guides with specialization.
Italian and foreign citizens equally love to contribute to the prservation of monuments. Italian tourism will have to be watched in the future with hope.
