Have you ever wanted to see more of the real Europe? Europe a la Carte is here to highlight how you can get more out of your trip by venturing, even slightly, off the well worn tourist track. Avoid the tourist traps and get a more authentic flavour of your destination. I’ve written some destination guides for the website. I’d like to think that when you read one of the guides it makes you want to visit that place. I am not trying to tell you evert single piece of information about the destinations. The first guide I wrote is about Lake Iseo. in northern Italy. When you think of the Italian lakes, you think of Lake Garda or Como. However Lake Iseo is a smaller, less commercialised lake, which is very beautiful and contains the largest lake island in Europe, Monte Isola.

Recently I’ve been writing more about destinations in the UK, my most recent guide is to Perthshire one of my favourite areas in my home country of Scotland. It’s funny how sometimes you don’t really appreciate your home territory, you can take it for granted.
