Italy top luxury destination - Italy is classified first destination for the top-of-the-range travellers in 2007. The world luxury travel market currently represents 25 million trips per year, that is to say 3% of the totality of the trips. It accounts for also 25% of the expenditure related to the stays, that is to say 180 million dollars. The average budget of a traveller is estimated between 10.000 and 20.000 dollars. These luxury followers come from the United Kingdom, but also from Russia, Italy, Spain, and, more recently, China and India. This rise is explained by the considerable increase in a socio-professional category whose incomes amount to at least 1 million dollars. The principal worry of these customers is to obtain private and personalized services, like private flights, considered as a “necessary luxury”. The 500, named Car of the Year 2008, is beautiful, customisable with 12 colours, 15 interior trims and a plethora of rims, stickers and accessories. Very pleasant to drive (in spite of a high noise level) with its way of changing gears similar to a kart, it shows a pretty urban temperament thanks to its 100 HP gasoline engine.
